Wireless presenters are a great tool that allows you to step away from the Lectern or Podium or to wander around the room as you present and engage with your audience. We encourage most presenters to bring their own presenters both for practicality and preference. We do however recognise that batteries can fail or on occasion our Lumension Endpoint Security software has blocked the drivers of certain makes and models of presenters that may have features unauthorised by our IT policies and for this reason one spare presenter is available in each centre on a first come first served basis, which should be booked out through the Reception or Events teams.
In order for these presenters to work with your computer, you will require a receiver. These are usually small USB dongles included with the presenter unit, that connect much like a portable storage drive would. Insert this dongle into the monitor or TV screen mounted in each room where you see these symbols:
Once the drivers have installed, power on your presenter and allow it to connect to your dongle (this should only take a few seconds). Next, load up your respective presentation software package and give your 'next' and 'previous' buttons a press. If you see your content changing then you are all set to present.
No Response on Pressing Presenter Buttons
A few things can cause the Trust PC to not respond to the button presses:
- Is your Receiver properly connected? light pressure to the end of your dongle to ensure it's seated correctly in the USB port.
- Have you checked your batteries? Power switches can easily get left on after sessions causing the batteries to be drained even when the dongle isn't connected to th computer. Batteries in your presenter should be changed at the same time to prevent uneven performance with your presenter. Not doing so will cause uneven diagnostics (if you presenter has them) and more frequent failures. It's also worth removing the batteries from your presenter between sessions if you seldom use it to increase the longevity of both the batteries and your device.
- Is your presenter definitely switched on? This sounds a silly question at first, but small switches that look similar can often be confused with a power switch.
- Have you tested it on another computer or non-trust PC? This is the best way to diagnose if the issue may be with a driver or with Lumension Endpoint Security.
