Our Trust PCs and AV systems in our Seminar and Lecture Spaces are designed to mirror content on both the Local/Confidence Monitors and the Projector/TV Screens. As a result this means slide notes aren't normally visible to speakers.

If you have prepared speaker notes and would like to use PowerPoint's built in 'Presenter View' functionality, simply perform the following steps below. When you've finished please ensure to follow ALL of the steps to ensure the system is ready for the next person!

Please Note: Due to how the system has been wired up, the following rooms aren't currently capable of offering this functionality: The Preston and Chorley Lecture Halls, Skills Lab A/B, Seminar 4, Seminar 5.

  1. Hold Down the Windows (  or   ) key on the keyboard and press the letter "P" once. A menu should appear:

  2. Select the Extend Option either by pressing P whilst still holding down the windows key, or release both after 1 second and use the mouse to select it. The screen may go dark for a moment whilst the computer adjusts.
  3. Once in Extended Desktop mode, open up your presentation as normal.
  4. Before presenting, click the Slide Show Tab. Under the Monitors section, click on the Show On drop-down menu and select the correct option for you display on (this is usually labelled "Monitor 2"). You should also check the Use Presenter View box.
  5. Launch your presentation. Your slides will appear on the Projector/TV screens and a Presenter control window will open on the Local Monitor. From here you can navigate between slides, view your speaker notes, the presentation running time and a small preview of the current slide.
  6. Once you've finished, close PowerPoint and Perform Windows + P keyboard shortcut again. This time select the Duplicate option. The screen may go dark again whilst the computer adjusts.
  7. The PC is now ready for use by the next presenter.
