Yes and No.

Due to a shift in focus on how we communicate and collaborate, standard Skype may now only be used on the external facing WiFi networks in the Trust (Health-Academy-WiFi, Public-WiFi). Access through internal networks and on Trust PCs may present a blank login screen, pop up various blocked pages in Internet Explorer and experience issues with call connections.

Use of Skype on your own devices should run though when connected through the guest networks. Please check the guides for Health-Academy-WiFi and Public-WiFi for instruction on how to get set up.

Disclaimer: Whilst the Trust do their upmost to provide stable and robust connections, we cannot guarantee a stable call. Audio and video calls are often bridged through many different components which all contribute to the final call quality. Only a fraction of these components are in our control with priority traffic given to clinical based and critical equipment within the hospital sites. If you are struggling to get clear sound or video, check out the Troubleshooting guide on the Skype website and ask your other callers to check their settings too. It is also worth noting that whilst the networks are deemed safe within the Trust infrastructure, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals is not responsible nor provides any warranty for any external content or transmission of data to other bodies and it is the responsibility of the end user to ensure the security and proper information governance of said data transmitted and received.
