There are currently 5 visible SSIDs within our centres, 3 of which are usable by staff and 2 by visitors to our centres.
- NWSIS-WLAN-D and LTH-DATA are internal networks used by Trust assigned devices to allow for access to internal systems on the move whilst on either hospital site or at Preston Business Centre. These devices are usually 'locked' to the network for security and can't be used on the other wireless networks.
- LTH-WiFi is usable around both sites, primarily for medical staff. Access to internal hospital systems is restricted on this network, but access to external sites is relaxed.
- Health-Academy WiFi is our Health Academy based guest network in all three Centres (with limited availability around the perimeter of them) and provides a persistent connection for Ed Tech devices and Staff access. Access to this connection requires a Trust Network Username and Password. There is no restriction on external sites through this network but not access to internal hospital applications and systems.
- Public-WiFi is a guest network that is available across both hospital sites. This is managed externally by the North West Shared Infrastructure Service and requires you to register each time, which can be done through social networks or through signup and two factor authentication using your mobile phone number. There is no restriction on external sites through this network but not access to internal hospital applications and systems.
Disclaimer: Whilst security is a priority on our IT Infrastructure, given the nature of publicly accessible guest networks we strongly advise you treat the security of your device as you would with other free networks such as those in coffee shops, airports and transport, and protect yourself accordingly.
