One big selling point of Teams is its audio/video capability with one or multiple people - very much like Skype or FaceTime but with more capabilities attached.
There are different methods to starting a call, depending on the nature of it - from simple catchups and 1:1s to full scale development workshops with multiple people collaborating on files and whiteboarding.
Running Virtual Meetings
Virtual Meetings give you the ability to share content across multiple people and collaborate live on files from Word, Excel, PowerPoint & OneNote. Meetings work a little different to group calls in that they're flexible and usually public to the channel you host them in. When you start a meeting it doesn't dial everybody at the same time causing a distraction to those that might already be in a meeting or working on another project, allowing users to join as and when appropriate and drop out without the meeting ever going down. You can also schedule meetings in advance like you would in a face to face scenario.
Currently on the Trust setup there's two ways to start a Teams Meeting:
The "Meet Now" Method:
As the name suggests, this method is suited to those impromptu meetings you need to have to discuss a certain issue. The "Meet Now" button is located in teams channels, both at the bottom of the message box and also . I'd suggest watching this video for a quick and informative demonstration on how these meetings work:
The Outlook Method:
One is through your Calendar in the desktop version of Microsoft Outlook (not Webmail) and is possible if you have downloaded and installed the application to your Trust computer.
- In Outlook, got to your personal Calendar and single click on a date. Now select New Teams Meeting in the ribbon at the top of the Window.
- If you had Microsoft Teams pre-installed on your Trust PC, there is a small chance this button may not appear. Please contact the IT Service Desk on x2185 if this happens.
- Fill out the information as you would for a normal calendar invite, making sure not to delete the links that appear in the signature of the Invite. Press send to put the meeting in people's calendars.
- Once the meeting time approaches, you'll be reminded by Outlook (if you have it running) about the appointment. You can join from the reminder window using the Join Now button (Outlook 365 users only) or, if you'd prefer to join later, open the calendar item up and select either the "Join Microsoft Teams Meeting" link in the signature, or press the Join Teams Meeting button in the ribbon at the top of the appointment window (see above)

Teams will open up and connect you to the call.
